Two Passings In The Art World

One of my favorite painters, Robert Rauschenberg, died on May 12; I used to go to the SFMOMA to stare at his paintings in awe. Today, comic book legend Will Elder died. His work for EC and later collaborations with Harvey Kurtzman - including Little Annie Fanny - has brought me much joy. The paired timing reminds me that it’s never about “high” art and “low” but about the impact a creative mind can have on its audience. They will both be missed, their legacies never forgotten.
